Water Desalination Plant Design and Management
June 27-28, 2022 | Online :: Central Time
This course introduces a general overview to the benefits and challenges of a water desalination plant using reverse osmosis (RO) technology starting from raw water intake and ending with the water disruption station. The instructor will review the pretreatment system, high pressure block, membrane design, controls, post treatment, and how to manage high implementation costs. After this course, attendees will have a better understanding of the DWRO plant’s components and be able to understand plant design elements, plant management, plant operation, cost mitigation and maintenance. We will review examples for each item and technology covered, along with explanation videos throughout.
The Water Desalination Plant Design and Management course is designed for engineers looking to understand the design and management processes of reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants. Providing drinking water through desalinating salty water has become more common in recent years because of the unfortunate limitations of sourcing fresh water. Desalination plants can not only provide access to safe drinking water but can also help with irrigating plants and habitat protection. The reverse osmosis technology is the most effective system in the water desalination field. This is because drinking water reverse osmosis plants require a flawless design to achieve reliability and efficient plant operations to achieve resendable CAPEX and low OPEX.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to successfully:
- Layout the reverse osmosis water desalination plants components
- Define the raw water intake system
- Design the pretreatment system based on feed water quantity
- Recognize how to do the membrane projection
- Recognize the different type of energy recovery technologies
- Recognize the different type of high-pressure pumps
- Assign the power consumption for the Drink Water Reverse Osmosis or DWRO
- Recognize the motor’s controller
- Plant cost management and budgeting
- Define the post treatment system
- Optimize operations and reduce costs
