Leadership Essentials: Granting Legitimacy & Organizational Culture
June 29, 2022 | Online ::
How often have you encountered situations where meetings or conversations are interrupted or delayed by individuals choosing to check email or getting distracted by notifications on their phones? Or found yourself in heated discussions that result from colleagues talking over one another believing if their point is louder or more emphatic it will hold sway? These common situations may share a root cause that is seldom recognized beyond the notion of respect or disrespect.
In this course you will be introduced to the distinction of Granting Legitimacy as one of the most critical aspects of building relationships. It involves intentionally granting another the right to be who they are without needing to agree with what they do or say. It opens a space inside which a relationship can be strengthened or even begun. Legitimacy is foundational for building trust with others and within organizations.
In this one-day course we will cover:
- what is meant by the concept and the requirements for one to grant another legitimacy
- common situations where legitimacy is lacking
- how to rebuild a relationship where legitimacy may be lacking

Register now to gain strategies, practices, and practical approaches for strengthening skills in granting legitimacy and opening space for more productive conversations and relationships.
