As the changing weather patterns create more storms of increased severity across the country and continue impacting utilities like never before, emergency planners are under incredible pressure to plan for the unknown. How a utility responds during a major storm and what they communicate can make or break its relationships with customers, regulators, and state and government officials.   We will review how utilities can adapt to these emergencies while giving tangibles of how to prepare, plan, and communicate for a storm as well as managing the incident as it is happening.  This course will provide tools for utilities so they can better plan, prepare, and respond to the next major storm.

        The course continues in the second morning focusing on the important effective storm management component of communication and ends with a case study of how Duke Energy Florida prepares and responds to hurricanes. A critical component and role of the utility is notifying customers about possible impending weather-related outages and communication during and after the event.

Cancellations must be received on or before October 04, 2024 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
